Provisional Licence

Once you have completed all the requirements of Phase Two and have paid $36.60 for your Provisional Licence you are free2go.

There are a couple of things to remember about driving solo: 

Learner Phase I  - First 6 months (from July 1st 2008)

• You must display a red 'P' plate with a white 'P' on the front and back of your vehicle for the next 6 months.
• You are not allowed to drive between midnight and 5am. (There are exemptions for work or study purposes, contact your nearest licensing centre for more information)
• Maximum speed is 110km/h where permitted
• Zero BAC when driving

Learner Phase II - 18 Months

• You must display a green 'P' plate with a white 'P' on the front and back of your vehicle for the next 18 months.
• There are no night time driving restrictions.
• Maximum speed is 110km/h.
• Zero blood alcohol level when driving. 
• The Safe Driver Reward Scheme rewards probationary drivers who have not incurred any penalties during their first two years of driving. If you do not receive any fines you will receive your licence free for your third year.
