Pre Learner

Phase II - Log Book

Once you pass your PDA you are ready to get heaps of experience driving in different conditions. This is the stage where you keep a log book to record your driving experiences.  It is recommended that you gain supervised driving experience:

  • On freeways, highways and major roads - not exceeding 100km/h

  • On country roads (gravel and sealed)

  • At night time

  • In different weather conditions

NOTE: You still are not allowed to drive in Kings Park

Costs

Hazard Perception Test (HPT)   $19.30

You still need to display your "L" plates and carry your permit with you during this phase.

Learner's Permit issued before 29th June 2008.
Once you've turned 17, completed the log book requirements of 25 hours of supervised driving you can sit the Hazard Perception Test HPT.

Learner's Permits issued after 29th July 2008.
Once you've turned 17, completed the log book requirements of 25 hours of supervised driving and been in Phase II for a minimum of 6 months you can sit the HPT.

If you lose your log book you will need to start again.

It is recommended that you get as much supervised driving experience in as many different road, weather and traffic conditions as you can - as much as 120 hours would be great.
