When can you can sit the Hazard Perception Test?

Learner's Permit issued before 29th June 2008.
Once you've turned 17, completed the log book requirements of 25 hours of supervised driving you can sit the Hazard Perception Test.

Learner's Permits issued after 29th July 2008.
Once you've turned 17, completed the log book requirements of 25 hours of supervised driving and been in Phase II for a minimum of 6 months you can sit the HPT.

Where

This interactive computer test can be sat at any Department of Planning and Infrastructure Licensing Centre. (Metro click here, Regional click here.)

There's a practice CD which you will be given once you pass your practical test or you can obtain one from your local library. 

How

Turn up at the Licensing Centre and:

  • Hand in your log book

  • Complete the computerised test, and you're on your way.

If you don't pass this test you can come back the next day and redo the test for a fee of $19.30
